The latest in our new series of Spoken Word events with Emma Purshouse and Barry Hollow.
Emma Purshouse – ‘A whirlwind of wit and humour ‘ Write Out Loud – is a poetry slam champion and performs at festivals across the UK including Ledbury Poetry, Cheltenham, Edinburgh Fringe, Latitude, Shambala and Womad. Her children’s collection I Once Knew a Poem Who Wore a Hat (Fair Acre Press) won the poetry section of the Rubery Book award in 2016. Her collection Close (Offa’s Press) was shortlisted for the same award in 2018. Her debut novel is Dogged (Ignite Books).
Barry Hollow, originally from Ayrshire in Scotland, lives in Bristol and has laid creative roots with the poetry community. His debut collection – Viaducts & River Views – has just been published (Black Cat Poetry Press). It explores the relationship with home and belonging, the nostalgia that comes from leaving and the discovery of a new one.
