Join Ledbury Poetry’s new monthly Salon and Open Mic. An evening with headline poet Ann Drysdale (latest collection Vanitas, Shoestring Press) hosted by Angela France and open mic (sign up on the night)
Ann Drysdale has lived in places as disparate as a narrowboat in the Midlands and a smallholding on the North York Moors. She now lives in the highest terrace of a mining town in South Wales. She has published nine collections and her poems have won prizes in the Manchester, Cardiff, Peterloo, Housman Society, Bridport and National poetry competitions.
In Ann Drysdale’s latest collection Feeling Unsual (Shoestring Press, 2022) ‘a liberating sense of humour accompanies dark foreboding pieces about ordinary stuff. It’s as if we’re invited into a mythical, other-worldly place in order to foreground what’s actually going on in the day-to-day of covid isolation, intermittent loneliness and loss.’ (London Grip review). Expect vivid imagery and imagination and an intriguing Mari Lwyd character.
